This tutorial aim to help you understand the basic of propeller and i will keep updating for any other parts of RC toys.you can click the link at the end of the post to read if you want:)And welcome your advice and suggestion~

1.Diameter and Pitch

If you are new to mini quad or FPV, its very important to know the relationship of its diameter and nominal pitch. For example ,the propeller with 5X4.2 description,5 is its diameter and 4.2 is its nominal pitch.

Diameter decides the strength of thrust and twist.

Nominal pitch can reflect the flight speed.More big the nominal pitch ,more fast the quad can fly.

2.Blade Number

Generally, the 2-blade propeller will be more effective than the 3-blade one. Because three blades will more easy to interrupt the flow around them thus lower the stability. However, It’s ok to try 3-blades or 4- blades propellers when the model and the diameter of the propeller are both small.

3.Material

There is a bunch of choices for the material of propeller. I just pick some common ones to discuss:

wooden propeller:

The Wooden propeller can be really light and bear fast rotating. However, It’s not so popular because it’s easy to be broken. It's useful to the senior player who has confidence to control the quad quite well.

Carbon fiber propeller:

It’s perfect in quality and performance.Value for Price

Plastic propeller

It’s friendly to the new player for its price.

When you find any breakage of your propellers, please replace the new one Whatever material your propellers are. If you insist on using a broken propeller, you might get a broken plane at the end.

Hi

I used to fly big rc internal combustion helicopters few years ago.

I have always agreed that is good to fly 2 blades instead of 3 blades.

2 blades helicopter are more efficient also cheaper to buy if you have to replace them.

When it comes to blades, I have started with wood propeller on my rc internal combustion helicopter then I purchased a new set of carbon blades. I have realised that eventually they started to crack on the edges and I move back to wooden propeller.

I hope this helps

I think the most important I consider is diameter and pitch, which provide the strength to the plane.
Besides, Small propellers for high speed. Big propellers for slower flight.
